Serving the World

Our world is larger than our community or our neighborhood. We are called to serve people throughout the world.

Vigil for Peace

As part of the Peace Not Walls initiative of the ELCA, we hold a prayer vigil on the 24th of each month when we pray for peace with justice in the Middle East. Our efforts are part of a global ecumenical prayer vigil that began on December 24th, 2012 and will continue across the globe, on the 24th of every month, until the Israeli occupation is dismantled, violence in the Middle East ends, and all can celebrate a just and lasting negotiated resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Refugee Education and Support

Beginning in 2015, LMC sponsored a refugee family from Burma through Refugee One. In addition to providing financial support and furnishing the family’s apartment, members of LMC provided mentoring support and employment assistance. Our family has since moved to pursue better employment opportunities in another state, but our commitment to supporting refugees continues as we work to identify other avenues to help and connect interested members to those organizations.
