In Person Worship Update (as of February 2021)

As Chicago moves back to Phase IV of reopening and coronavirus metrics appear to be improving throughout the city, you may be wondering when will we be able to worship in person at LMC. Council, staff, and several additional volunteers have been giving this question lots of thought and reviewing local, state, and synod guidance. For the time being, we have concluded that we will not consider in-person worship in our sanctuary through Easter. We are proud of the work we have done as a church to journey together in a virtual setting and are slowly returning to in-person activities for smaller groups (particularly when we are able to meet outside). However, with news of more contagious virus variants now present in Illinois and a diverse population that includes members and neighbors in multiple risk categories, we simply do not feel it is prudent to return to large scale, in-person worship at this time. Rest assured that, when we do begin to worship again in our sanctuary, we will take care to sanitize the space, assist folks with social distancing, and take all of the proper required and recommended precautions. In order to include all members of the congregation, we anticipate including virtual elements in our church life for some time going forward. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to staff or council with questions.
